• HEEP, as a specific strand of HEC, is the vehicle by which schools are provided with support to deliver work related learning and enterprise education. HEEP works to bring schools and local employees together for mutual benefits. It has developed an effective model of employer engagement that goes beyond the traditional approaches. Moreover, businesses say they like HEEP’s approach as it behaves like a business in its responsiveness and collaboration. It offers employers a ‘one stop shop’ for liaison with schools and vice versa. Employers particularly like HEEP because it provides them with absolute clarity on what will be involved in a particular activity, facilitates the whole process and delivers detailed feedback. • Education providers (and in particular schools) have a statutory responsibility for providing work related learning, enterprise education, citizenship, financial awareness and preparing children and young people to become eventually economically active and productive members of society. They need the input and support of businesses and employers to achieve these. • Business and employers need a skilled and flexible workforce, available locally and want to engage with education providers to help achieve this. • HEEP consists of a small Project Team.
